Which membership fee emails and notifications do you get?
4planning sends various notifications around membership fees, usually by email and as a push notification. Some you can switch off, others deliberately not.
The overview
| Notification | When | Can it be switched off? |
|---|---|---|
| Direct debit pre-notice | About 14 days before the SEPA collection | Yes |
| Payment ready | On the due date (iDEAL or bank transfer) | Yes |
| Invitation to activate a mandate | For a new SEPA subscription without a mandate | Yes |
| Payment reminder (late) | Every 7 days after the due date, up to 3× | No |
| Reminder about a missing mandate | SEPA instalment without a valid mandate | No |
| Failed direct debit or payment | As soon as a payment fails | No |
| Chargeback or reversal | When an earlier payment is reversed | No |
| Payment confirmation | As soon as an instalment is paid | Email only, no push |
The rule behind it
The routine notifications — the pre-notice, "payment ready" and the invitation to activate your mandate — respect your own preference. If you do not want them, you switch them off.
Notifications about a late, failed or reversed payment always go out. You cannot mute those, because otherwise you could miss an outstanding payment without knowing. That is a deliberate choice: it concerns money you still owe.
Step 1: Adjusting notifications
- Go to My account.
- Open the Notifications section.
- Switch the membership fees toggle on or off.
That applies to the routine notifications. Reminders about arrears stay on.
Frequently asked questions
- I am getting a message twice, by email and as a push. That is correct: most membership fee notifications go through both channels. You can set what you want to receive per channel.
- I am getting emails about my child's membership fee. That is how it works. All messages about a linked child go to the parent.
- I have paid but I am still getting a reminder. With a bank transfer the association has to mark the instalment as paid manually. Contact your treasurer.
