4planning by organisation type
4planning is used by associations, sports clubs, business clubs and companies. They all need the same basics — members, calendar, communication, money — but they set them up in very different ways. A brass band tracks rehearsal attendance, a football club fills a bar rota, a caterer sells tickets under its client's brand. On this page you pick the type closest to yours and see which features belong to it, in which order to switch them on, and which articles cover them.

The four main types
Every type belongs to one of these four. They differ in what is switched on by default when you start:
- Association — members, membership fees, calendar, bar shifts and communication. The basis most associations run on.
- Sports club — the same basis, plus matches (with or without Sportlink) and scheduling referees.
- Business club — meetings with sign-ups and guests, a member directory and sponsor packages.
- Company — customers, quotes, projects, scheduling, work orders, timesheets and the Bouwjournaal.
The pages below them are not separate products: they use the same 4planning, but explain how your kind of organisation sets it up and which terminology fits.
Where to start
Whatever your type, the order is almost always the same: get your member list right first, then groups and permissions, then money (fees or invoicing), then the calendar, and only then communication towards your members. Don't invite people before there is something to see — that is the most common mistake at go-live.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to pick a type when creating my environment? Yes, during setup you choose a category; it determines which features are on by default and how your menu looks. You can still switch anything on or off afterwards.
What if we fit several types? Pick where the centre of gravity is. A sports club with its own business club often uses two environments: one for the club, one for the business club.
Does the price differ per type? No, the type only determines the setup. What a plan costs is on 4planning.nl.
