Asking Planny good questions

You do not need to learn commands or keywords: plain language is enough. Still, one question gets a better answer than another. These are the patterns that work in practice.

Say what you want to achieve

Planny is better with a goal than with an order. Compare:

Instead of	Better
Write something about the winter break	Create a news item saying training is paused from 20 December to 6 January
Create an event	Create an event for the new year reception on 4 January at 15:00 in the clubhouse
Give me the members	Who has not paid this season's fee yet?

The more concrete the goal, the less you have to fix afterwards.

Let the context do the work

If you are already on the right page, do not name the subject. On an event, "who has not responded yet?" is enough. See Planny looks along at your screen.

Build on the same conversation

You do not have to start over every time. This just works:

Which matches on Saturday still have no referee? → Assign the first two to someone who has refereed little this season. → And send me the list back.

Ask again if the answer looks off

If it says something you did not expect, ask "where did you get that?" or "show the underlying list". Often you will see straight away that it took a different period or a different group than you meant.

What does not help

• A whole paragraph at once. Three wishes together usually yields one well-executed wish. Do them one after another.
• Asking it to send something. It makes drafts; sending stays with you. So ask for the draft, not for the send.
• Asking about something outside 4planning. The weather, looking up an address, fetching a news item from the internet — it cannot reach any of that.

Frequently asked questions

• Can I correct it? Yes, just say so: "no, I meant the youth tournament". It picks it up again without you retyping everything.
• Does it remember things between conversations? No. Every conversation stands alone; what you asked last week is gone.
• What if it does not know? Then it says so. That is on purpose: an assistant that guesses to look helpful costs you more time than it saves.
• Does a long question cost more credit? Slightly, but the difference is small. A generation (a news item, a draft quote) costs far more than a question. See Planny credit.
