Planny credit: how it works and requesting more
Planny uses AI, and that comes with a monthly credit. This article explains how that credit works, and how you give Planny a face of your own.
Turning Planny on or off
Go to Settings → Appearance and pick the Planny tab. Here you set:
-
Planny on/off for the whole environment.
-
Who may use Planny — everyone, administrators only, or system administrators only.
-
The name, profile picture and writing style (automatic/formal/informal/playful) of your Planny.
-
A welcome message and up to 6 example questions members can click straight away.
-
The glow around the chat window: off, on the button only, or on the whole panel — and how strong.
Make it your own mascot
Planny does not have to be called Planny. Give it the name and the face of your club and it feels like one of your own rather than a built-in robot. What clubs do:
- Football club — names it after the club mascot, adds its photo, picks the playful tone and writes as a welcome message: "Hi! I'm Sjaak. Ask me any time when you're keeping goal or who is on bar duty this Saturday." Example questions: When do I play?, When am I on bar duty?, Where is the away match?
- Music association — "Maestro", informal tone, with example questions like When is the next rehearsal? and Which pieces are we playing at the concert?
- Business club or company — keep it businesslike: your own company name or simply "Assistant", formal tone, and example questions about work: Which quotes are open?, What is scheduled this week?
Two things worth knowing. The name and photo are per environment, so every member sees the same mascot. And the welcome message can be set per language: if your environment has English or German switched on, fill those in too, otherwise those members get the Dutch one.
Viewing your credit
Your usage lives somewhere else than the settings: go to Settings → Limits. That page brings your members, your storage and your AI credit together, so one glance tells you whether you are running into anything. The card "Planny credit this month" shows:
- What percentage of your monthly credit you've already used, expressed in Planny points.
- A breakdown of what the credit is being spent on: chat, quote AI, event AI, voice notes, and more.
- How many chat messages you can still send today (that counter refreshes every night).
- At the bottom, a separate block for the voice note budget (for recording and summarising meetings) — a separate pool alongside your general Planny credit, with its own progress bar.
Your credit renews automatically on the first of every month.
What happens when the credit runs out?
Regular members simply see a neutral message that Planny isn't available right now. Administrators see a clearer message that the monthly credit has run out, along with the date it renews.
Requesting more credit
Structurally running short on credit? There's no self-service button to top this up yourself — click "Request an extension" under the credit card on Limits. This opens a conversation with the 4planning team, with your current usage already filled in, so we can quickly think along about a suitable solution.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I give Planny a different name and photo? Yes — see "Make it your own mascot" above. Name, photo, tone of voice, welcome message and example questions are all yours to set.
- Does every Planny action cost the same? No, a short question costs less than, say, drafting a quote concept. The breakdown on the credit card shows what's using the most.
- What happens to my credit when the month changes over? It doesn't carry over — every month you start with a fresh credit.
- Why aren't Planny's settings and its credit in the same place? Because they answer two different questions. What Planny is called and how it sounds belongs to your environment's appearance; how much you have left to spend belongs with your other limits, next to members and storage.
- Can I set a larger monthly credit myself? No, the 4planning team sets that for you after a request via "Request an extension".
