Converting a lead into a customer

Updated on

Every lead in your inbox can be converted into a customer with one click, so you can move quickly.

Converting a lead

  1. Open the lead and click Make customer.
  2. The form is already pre-filled with the name, company name, email address and phone number from the lead.
  3. Check the details and confirm.

Does a customer with the same email address already exist in your environment? Then the lead is automatically linked to that existing customer, instead of creating a duplicate one.

After converting, the Make customer button is replaced by View customer, and — if Quotes and Planny are enabled in your environment — a shortcut to start a quote directly based on this lead.

Spam and status

Every lead automatically gets a status:

  • New — not yet reviewed or converted.
  • Spam — marked automatically based on the spam threshold. Turns out a lead is genuine after all? Click Not spam to restore it.
  • Converted — already turned into a customer.

A lead can't be converted twice — once converted, you'll only see View customer.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I undo a lead marked as spam or new? Yes, a lead accidentally marked as spam can be restored with Not spam. An already-converted lead can't be undone.
  • What if the lead has no email address? Then a new customer is always created; the system can't check for an existing one.
  • Can Planny convert a lead into a customer itself? No, you do that yourself via the Make customer button — Planny can help with a quote once the customer has been created.
