Using the member directory

The directory ("smoelenboek") is a visual overview of your members or colleagues — meant for recognising each other and making contact easily, not for member administration (that's what the regular member overview is for).

What you see

Each card shows a photo (or initials if there's no photo), name, and that person's company or expertise — if neither is filled in, it just says "Member". Click a card for more details: company, expertise, birthday, email address and phone number (as far as that person has made these visible), plus buttons to go to their profile or start a chat. If that person has awards set to Hall of honour, they appear there as labels.

Use the search bar above the overview to search by name, company or expertise.

Searching by company

If the Companies feature is on, you can switch between People and Companies above the overview. In that second view every company appears as a card with its logo and the members linked to it, and you can filter by industry. The company also shows as a small logo next to someone's name in the people view.

With the feature on, the overview opens on Companies. Switch to People and the app remembers that on this device. See Companies in your club.

If the Connections feature is on, the people view also lets you filter on not yet connected and my connections — handy for spotting who you don't know yet.

Making yourself visible or hidden

Go to My account and set whether you appear in the directory:

• Visible — you simply appear in the overview.
• Hidden — you don't appear in the directory.

In the same place you also separately set whether your email address and phone number are visible to others, and how much of your date of birth you share: hidden, day and month only, or the full date (including age).

What administrators see

In the directory, administrators see exactly what other members see: whatever you have hidden stays hidden for them too. Administrators do need your contact details for member administration, and that is what the member overview is for — that is the management page, and these visibility settings do not apply there.

Frequently asked questions

• I no longer see myself in the directory. Can I change that? Yes, go to My account and set your visibility back to Visible.
• Does an administrator see my phone number if I've hidden it? Not in the directory — your settings apply to everyone there. On the member overview, the management page, an administrator does see your details; that is needed for member administration.
• What's the difference with the member overview? The member overview is the full management page for administrators (editing, status, bulk actions). The directory is a simple, visual overview for members to see each other.
• Why does it just say "Member" next to someone? That person hasn't filled in a company or expertise in their profile.
