Adding photos to an album

Updated on

Once the album exists, you can put photos in it — several at a time.

Step 1: Open the album

Go to Photo albums and click the album.

Step 2: Drag the photos in

Drag the photos from your computer onto the album, or click Upload and select them. You can pick several at once; you see the progress for each one.

On a phone the button works the same way: you pick photos from your camera roll.

What happens to your photo

4planning automatically creates two smaller versions of every photo: a thumbnail for the grid and a version for on-screen viewing. That way an album with two hundred photos loads quickly, even on a phone with a poor connection.

The original file is kept and can be downloaded. Two things about it do change:

  • The hidden location data is removed. Phones record the exact GPS coordinates in every photo. You do not see them, but anyone who downloads the file can read them. A photo taken at someone's home therefore contains a home address. 4planning strips that data when saving.
  • A portrait photo is straightened. That follows from the previous point: the information that says how a photo should be rotated sits in that same block, so it is applied to the photo itself.

Which files can you upload?

JPG, PNG and WEBP. Other files belong in a regular document folder.

Do members get a notification?

Only if they have switched on New photos in an album; that is off by default.

If they switch it on, they get one message per upload session, roughly twenty minutes after the first photo — not one per photo. It says something like "24 new photos in Summer tournament 2026".

Frequently asked questions

How many photos can I upload at once? There is no fixed maximum, but they are sent one by one. For large batches it is best to leave the window open until the last one finishes.

Can I move a photo to another album? Yes, using the move action on the photo.

What if my storage is full? The upload stops with a message. Clear out old files or ask your administrator for more space.
