Service charges on membership fees
Every SEPA and iDEAL payment carries a € 1.00 service charge on top of the membership fee. There is no charge on a bank transfer.
Where do you see it?
The member always sees the total amount, so the fee plus the service charge. The payment emails carry a footnote: incl. € 1.00 service charge. That way there are no surprises on the bank statement.
When it applies and when it doesn't
- SEPA direct debit — € 1.00 per collection, so per instalment.
- iDEAL — € 1.00 per payment, so per instalment.
- Bank transfer — no service charge.
That means the interval affects what a member pays in total. Twelve monthly collections cost € 12.00 in service charges; one yearly collection costs € 1.00. Weigh that against the convenience of spreading payments.
Frequently asked questions
- Why am I paying € 1.00 more than the membership fee? That is the service charge on SEPA and iDEAL payments. Choose bank transfer and you do not pay it.
- Can we cover the service charge as an association? The charge is added to the amount due and is visible to the member. If you want to compensate for it as an organisation, lower the fee amount in the plan.
- Does it apply to a failed payment too? It belongs to a successful payment attempt. If a direct debit fails and the member then pays through the payment link, that new payment carries a service charge again.
