Sorting documents by name or upload date
You can sort your documents by name, by newest upload or by oldest upload. That way the file you uploaded last week is simply at the top, instead of somewhere in a long alphabetical list. 4planning remembers your choice: every folder then opens in that order straight away.
Step 1: Open your documents
- In the left-hand menu, go to Documents.
- Open the folder you want to view.
Step 2: Choose how to sort
- At the top, next to the buttons for overview and list, click the sort button (the down arrow with lines). The button shows how the list is sorted right now, for example Name (A–Z).
- Under Sort by, choose one of the three options:
- Name (A–Z) – alphabetically, as you were used to.
- Newest first – the most recently uploaded file at the top.
- Oldest first – the first uploaded file at the top.
The list switches to the new order straight away. Folders always stay at the top and are sorted the same way.
Step 3: See the upload date
Next to each file you can see when it was uploaded, for example "Today 14:05" or "12 Oct". Hover over the date to see the full date and time. In the overview layout, the date is shown below the file size.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to set my choice every time? No. 4planning remembers your last choice and applies it to every folder, in the app as well.
Do my colleagues see my sort order too? No, the sort order is your personal preference. Everyone chooses how their own documents are ordered.
I can't see the sort button on my phone. On a small screen the button only shows the sort icon, without text. Tap it and you get the same three options.
Does this also work in a photo album? No. Photos in an album are shown in the order in which they were taken, or in the order the administrator has chosen.
