Importing matches via Excel

No Sportlink link, or want to set up a match schedule (league, tournament, series of friendlies) all at once? Import it via Excel or CSV instead of entering every match one by one.

Step 1: Download the template

1. Go to Manage matches.
2. Click Import.
3. Click Download template.

The template has two tabs: Matches (where you fill in your data) and Explanation (all the guidance spelled out, plus the names of your own teams). Hover over a column header for a short explanation of that column.

Step 2: Fill in your matches

Four columns are required: datum (date), tijd (time), thuisteam (home team) and uitteam (away team). The rest may stay empty.

• datum — for example 13-09-2026. 13/09/2026 and a real Excel date also work.
• tijd — for example 14:30. 14.30 and 1430 are read correctly too.
• thuisteam / uitteam — pick your own team from the dropdown; type an opponent's name freely.
• thuis_uit — you can leave this empty. We work out from the team names which side is yours. Only fill it in if neither team is yours, or for a match between two of your own teams.
• status — Gepland (scheduled), Gespeeld (played) or Geannuleerd (cancelled). Empty means scheduled.
• score_thuis / score_uit — fill in a result and the match is automatically set to played.
• accommodatie / veld — location details, purely informational.

Rows 3 and 4 in the template are examples. Fill in the teams to import them, or delete the rows.

Step 3: Upload and check the preview

1. Choose your file (.xlsx, .xls or .csv, max. 16 MB) and click Next.

Nothing is saved yet — you'll see a preview first.

Linking teams

At the top of the preview is one row per unique team name in your file — not per match, since a season's file has dozens of matches for the same team. Each name gets a status:

• Recognised — we're confident about the link; the dropdown is already set correctly.
• Check this — we've made a guess, but weren't confident enough to make it ourselves. Review it.
• Choose yourself — no idea at all. Pick one of your own teams, or Do not link a team for an opponent.

Undecided names appear at the top; teams that are already recognised sit at the bottom, collapsed. If your file has many opponents, click The remaining N names are opponents — that sets them all to "Do not link a team" at once.

A match where one of the two team names has no decision yet can't be ticked: only once both teams have a decision (including "Do not link a team") can the row be imported.

Why this matters: only a match linked to one of your own teams shows up for that team's members under "My matches". A match without a team link still appears in the general schedule, but nobody sees it as "their" match.

Once you link a team, we remember it. On a later import — for instance the results file for the same competition — you won't need to link that name again.

The table

Every row gets a status:

Status	Meaning
New	Will be added.
Update	This match already exists; its result or status is being updated (see below).
Moved	This match already exists, but on a different date — it will be rescheduled.
Unchanged	Already exists, nothing to do.
Sportlink	Already exists via Sportlink synchronisation, which determines the result — this row is skipped.
Error	Can't be imported (date, time or teams missing or unreadable).

Above the table are tiles for each status; click one to see only those rows — handy in a large file when you only want to review the changes.

Step 4: Confirm

Tick what you want to apply (everything that can be applied is ticked by default) and click Import.

Right after importing you'll see how many matches were added. As long as it's been less than 24 hours, an Undo import button appears above the table, which removes exactly the matches this import added.

An import never sends push notifications or e-mails.

Updating results

Later, upload the same file again with score_thuis and score_uit filled in. The preview recognises the existing matches by date and teams and shows them as Update — no duplicate matches are created.

Has a match been rescheduled to a different date? Just change the date in your file and upload it again; the preview shows it as Moved and sets it to the new date.

Location, field and changing rooms are deliberately not updated by an import — you change those on the match itself (see Viewing and managing matches), so a notification can go out to members if you want one.

Frequently asked questions

• Do I need Sportlink to import? No. The import exists specifically for clubs without a Sportlink link too.
• Can I use this for a tournament with two meetings between the same teams on one day? Yes, that's recognised as two separate matches.
• What happens to a match that already comes in via Sportlink? It's skipped — Sportlink stays the source for that match.
• I linked the wrong teams, what now? Within 24 hours of the import you can undo it entirely with the button above the table. After that, adjust the matches manually, or delete them and import again.
• Why isn't my imported match showing under "My matches"? Check that you linked the right team name to the right team in the preview — without that link, nobody sees the match as "theirs".
