Managing staff
Does your organisation work with a team of staff members instead of (or alongside) regular members? Then you use Staff to manage your team.
What a staff member is
A staff member is not a separate type of account — it's the same login as a regular member, with an extra role added. Someone can be a member in one environment and a staff member in another. A staff member with this role gets access to the staff dashboard and, depending on further permissions, can manage events and members.
Adding a staff member
- Go to Staff (or Team, depending on how your environment is set up).
- Click New staff member.
- Fill in the details — this works the same as creating a regular member.
A new staff member gets the status Invited until they log in for the first time.
Turning the staff role on or off
Open an existing member's profile via Edit member and go to the Permissions tab. Turn on the Staff switch to give someone access to the staff dashboard.
Note the difference with the Colleague switch: that's a separate role (visible in the team overview), independent of the staff role. Both can be on at the same time, but they don't mean the same thing.
The page's name depends on your environment
The same underlying page shows a different name and explanation depending on the context:
- From the Staff menu → title "Staff".
- For a Business-type environment, without that filter → title "Team".
- For other environment types → title "Member list".
So it's the same functionality, just named differently.
Frequently asked questions
- Does a staff member also count as a member? Not automatically — when created via Staff, someone is by default NOT set as a regular member. Want a staff member to also participate as a member (for example, visible in the directory)? Turn on the member role too.
- What's the difference between Staff and Colleague? Staff grants access to the staff dashboard and management functions. Colleague is a separate, visible role in the team overview. Both are independent switches on the Permissions tab.
- Can someone be staff in one environment and a regular member in another? Yes, the role applies per environment.
